So who is taking one on the way to Oxford? Where are you going? And do you need any suggestions on places to go or things to do? Let’s hear it in the comments!

I will be taking a side trip to the Cold Stone Creamery just outside of the campus! Is there a way we can get there during convention without breaking rulez?
PS- I love Little Miami! The food is deelicious!!

nope. enjoy coldstone before you check in!
Personally, i’ll be hitting skippers beforehand for some gyros. Or maybe some Bagel & Deli… :D

I might be taking a side trip to see a friend of mine in Dayton prior to arriving at Miami (somewhat out of the way, I know)- or possibly I am meeting him in Cincinnati (still out of the way, I know). I would like to spend a little time in Cincy regardless; I stopped there very briefly en route back from Tennessee last year, but didn’t get to see much (or know what to see).
If the aforementioned friend of mine punks out on me, where in Cincy should I make it a point to go see? I hear there is awesome non-Coldstone ice cream to be had somewhere- and apparently also the chili mac has its origins somewhere in OH? Not sure how true either of these are, though.

MarkoPoloWitz, Skyline is not on campus. Thank goodness. You’ll have to get your fix before or after. Take it back to the space aliens at Wright-Patt.
Trisha, the ice cream you are looking for is Graeter’s (http://www.graeters.com/), and it is fantastic stuff. There are many locations around town, including one in the Northgate area, south of I-275 on US 27/Colerain Avenue. If you have a chance, I would definitely stop in. I would also not send it into space with Markowitz’s aliens. That would be a waste of good ice cream.
As for other places to see in Cincinnati, the zoo is fun for a couple of hours. The Museum Center at Union Terminal has three museums and an Omnimax theatre, but it’s also currently hosting the Bodies exhibit, which I find a bit disturbing. The Cincinnati Art Museum has an extensive collection of Classical and fine art and the price is right: free. And if you want to browse modern art, the Contemporary Art Center is supposed to be a good place to visit.

To Trisha: I live in Northern Kentucky! So, Steve was right about the ice cream. Graeter’s is the absolute best ever!
The Zoo is interesting (I think there are some new baby animals) and the aquarium is a hoot too. I haven’t been in a while, but I know they have a new shark-petting exhibit? The Bodies exhibit is really freaky… It’s quite simply a bunch of cut up naked people (ewww). The bishop of the Diocese of Covington has forbidden school field trips there. The art museum has a Rembrandt exhibit going on, also.
Finally, it is absolutely essential that you visit Skyline and Montgomery Inn. They have the world’s BEST ribs!

I live in Cincy so theres nothing I really haven’t seen before and no side trips for me...darn...anyways another great place to visit would have to be Sawyer Point park just across from Newport on the Levee...not only is it b-e-a-utiful but it’s a great place to pay respects to the great roman dictator Cincinattus who has a fairly large statue of himself in the middle of the park, cant miss it

Newport on the Levee in general is a lot of fun to go to, there’s lots of stuff to do. By the way, the bodies exhibit is pretty freaky, I went, and now I know seeing a bunch of dead people’s insides just isn’t my thing…
