Some Packet Request FAQs and answers
Posted by Steve at 10:20 pm on Tuesday, April 29, 2008
Well, we’re only about a day away from the deadline for the packet request forms to be mailed to the NJCL offices. I’ve gotten a fair number of questions through this web site about the packet request and the deadline, so I thought I’d do a little FAQ action here and see if I can answer some of the more common questions.
Q Is my money due with my packet request or when I return my completed packet?
A As has been the case for the past four years, full payment for the Convention is due when you request the packet.
Q Can I send my packet request via fax?
A Yes. The packet request form lists the NJCL office fax number (513-529-7742). You may fax the fully completed form there, and you may even pay for the registration via credit card by completing that part of the form.
Q Can I submit a packet request over the phone or by email?
A No. Packet requests will only be accepted through U.S. Mail or by fax (see above).
Q Does my packet have to be mailed or received by May 1?
A The May 1 deadline is a postmark deadline. Your packet request should be postmarked May 1, and it should be received by the office by May 9.
Q My teacher isn’t going and I need a chaperone. Does this mean I can’t go to Convention?
A Not necessarily. If your teacher says that you may go, and you can find another chaperone who is willing to take you under her or his wing, we will see you in Oxford. Just remember: males must have a male chaperone, females must have a female chaperone.
Q My teacher is a female, but I am a male. Does this mean I can’t go?
A Not at all. Chances are your teacher knows another teacher or chaperone in your state that will be willing to chaperone you. If not, you can check with neighboring states to see if they have any extra chaperones who might be willing to help you out.
Q I have a situation that is slightly different than anything outlined here. What should I do?
A Email or call 513-529-7741
Q Will Fu be at this Convention?
A Unlike the 2006 Convention at Indiana University, we have every reason to believe that Fu will be spending the whole week at Miami this year.
Q Is it true that Miami was a University before Florida was a state?
A Yes.
Q Are you done answering packet request questions?
A Isn’t it obvious? If you have more questions, ask them in the comments, and we’ll see if we can answer them.

I think they’re having some problems with the NJCL forums. They’ve been down for more than a week.

Our family’s summer plans changed and my daughter will not be able to attend the NJCL convention this year. She had sent her packet and money in already. Will be be able to get a refund? If so, how do we apply?
Thank you.
