Oh Oh Ohio Dance

Here’s a quick heads up about one of this year’s dances: Tuesday night’s dance theme is Oh-Oh-Ohio, and our local committee has taken a little extra twist with this theme. The dance will have a retro tone, with music from decades gone by, and decorations to match. There may also be trivia and/or prizes. So are YOU coming to Convention this year?

So since it's been a month since my last post and since, as Convention Chair, I am naturally curious as to how well this Convention will be attended, I am throwing a couple of questions out there for anyone to answer in the comments:

1. Are you coming to Convention this year?
2. Have you ordered your Convention Packet yet?
3. If you are not sure that you will be able to make it, what is the biggest issue standing in your way?
4. How much Fu is too much Fu?

Transportation from the Airport

When you fly to convention, how do you get to campus? In the past, the host school has offered a shuttle service and have handled registrations. We’ve talked with Miami about using their Miami Metro buses to provide a general shuttle service to make the 40-mile trip from the Cincinnati airport (CVG) to Oxford. Fall Planning: Nuts and Bolts Part 2

Before I get into the Fall Planning meeting itself, I want to say something about the site for Graphic Arts.  This was probably the hardest activity for which to find a spot, and the the reasons were twofold: 1) It has to be big.  You’ve got the main body of projects, then you’ve got scrapbooks, then you’ve got multi-media; and 2) It has to be off-line the whole week, because those projects aren’t going anywhere and they need to be secure.  So, you have to make sure there’s a space that

Welcome to Miami

Salvete!  I’m Brian Compton, one of the two chairs for the 2008 NJCL Convention at Miami University along with Steve Gentle.  I can’t tell you how excited everyone in our state is to be welcoming our fellow JCL’ers this summer, and we can’t wait for July.  This is a really special event for Steve and I- not only are we (nearly) lifelong fans of JCL, but Miami has been like a second home for us.  Steve graduated in 1993, the year that Convention last visited Oxford (he was also NSCL Vice

After some slow development, we’re happy to introduce njcl08.org, the site of the 2008 National Junior Classical League Convention. Think of this site as a complement to the official NJCL web site, njcl.org. Our hope with this site is three-fold:

- to keep you informed about our planning for the 2008 Convention at Miami University
- to get your feedback about what you would like to see from next year’s Convention
- to get you excited about Ohio, Miami, and to pass the time until July
